Have you paid your dues & filled out your receipts only to have universities shrug off their duties and swindle your money?
Have you been rendered helpless because you didn’t know what to do, or whom to approach?
Project Gothumbunda is an initiative with one goal: To make sure that no student is economically exploited by college authorities.
The alarming incidence of cases where students have been denied their Caution Deposits, with authorities citing frivolous reasons, have led us to make this our priority.
One of the many cases include that of Ashwin PV and Sudev Madathodi, two graduates, who were met with a “helpless” Principal claiming that there’s no way that they’d get their money back.
Well, we have a way: Legal Action. Some provisions that will specifically aid us in this process:
S. 403, IPC: Dishonest misappropriation of property.—whoever dishonestly misappropriates or converts to his own use any movable property, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to two years, or with fine, or with both
405, IPC: Criminal breach of trust.—Whoever, being in any manner entrusted with property, or with any dominion over property, dishonestly misappropriates or converts to his own use that property, or dishonestly uses or disposes of that property in violation of any direction of law prescribing the mode in which such trust is to be discharged, or of any legal contract, express or implied, which he has made touching the discharge of such trust, or wilfully suffers any other person so to do, commits “criminal breach of trust”.
S.406, IPC: Whoever commits criminal breach of trust shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to three years, or with fine, or with.
